Xbox One Has a Lot Riding on Gears of War 4
Plenty of expectations at Microsoft and anyone involved with the Xbox One leading up to the release of Gears of War 4, and the latest statement by Rod Fergusson, the Studio Head at The Coalition.
Speaking to the Official Xbox Magazine, Fergusson said like how the original Gears of War was a visual showcase for the Xbox 360, Gears of War 4 will be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One.
Gears of War 4 first appeared at E3 last year, and the graphics looked very good. It’s due for a Q4 release in 2016, and the expectations at Microsoft are through the roof in regards to the game: Graphically and its gameplay.
The multiplayer beta is due in the spring, and it has been hinted that it’ll be running at 60 frames-per-second.
Delivering with Ultimate Edition the first 60fps multiplayer experience in franchise history really taught us a lot about what it means to have a 60fps culture on the team and we’re leveraging that experience for Gears of War 4.
Gears of War 4 will be the sixth installment in the series and the fourth in the main installment line, being a sequel to Gears of War 3. On April 1, 2015, The Coalition’s eSports, cinematics, and weapons producer, Allie “JackFelling” Henze, confirmed that Gears of War 4 will not be available for the Xbox 360.
Gears of War 3 came out in 2011, and sold more than 3 million copies during its first week. By September 27 (one week after the release) it had grossed over $1 billion, and was voted by a number of gaming websites and publications as the best shooter of 2011.
