Major Halo fans will undoubtedly run and purchase for Halo 3 ODST no matter what anyone says, but at least know what you are going in for…multiplayer fun and some cool action, but not a brand new and updated Halo 3.
At $50.99, Halo 3 ODST is the new release from the amazing and action packed Xbox 360 series that delivers a little more playing around fun and content but does not match to the deep thought and well developed predecessor Halo 3.
This new Halo 3 ODST is a new Halo direction for the Xbox 360, with this new game based on the popular series but broken down into bite sized games and action. In addition, it provides major multiplaying games that are a lot of fun and well deserving of your time. The thing is, Halo 3 ODST is NOT a new Halo source in basis of a whole brand new game as was received with Halo 3 when it was released, but it is a must for Halo fans.
Halo 3 ODST starts you off as an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, a rookie more exact that starts behind enemy lines to take care of business. Do not expect the ODST to perform like the Master Chief, for it is a smaller soldier, less skills, less power and you must work to grow your abilities. YOu are provided many different bit-size missions that vary in objectives which could be performed in 30 minutes or so for Halo veterans.
Firefight mode is also available in Halo 3 ODST, which does provide plenty of action and fire, but it does deserve some nifty teamwork to get through some difficult waves where enemies just keep dropping.
Although Halo 3 ODST does provide some good action and gameply, it does feel a tad “overpriced”. This is mostly due to the lack of actual game you receive when compared to Halo 3 and previous versions. Moreover, at certain times, it feels as if the design is not renewed but rather pasted…as if Halo 3 ODST was finished at haste. Lastly, the price doesn’t seem fitting even though you receive an additional disc with Halo 3 Multiplayer content, DLC maps and a few new ones. Still, major Halo fans would already have this content, but if you are a new comer, then this would be content that is both new and worth it for additional gameplay, practice and appreciation.
Overall, Halo 3 ODST delivers as mostly expected but at some areas does not amount to what is usually received with the hype of such a successful and amazing series as Halo. We can hope Halo Legends will grant more of what we seek (if not from a video game).
