GTA5 is now up and running… more or less. Rockstar has patched the game and opened up the online portion to mixed results.
The first GTA5 patch has come out today, and while it fixed many common bugs and opened up the online mode of the game, it turns out the online mode isn’t working quite right for everyone. As expected, the gamers came in rushing to try the new game modes, and this caused an overload. The game is functioning as of now, but gamers all around the world are reporting bugs and performance issues.
The patch fixed up most known issues in the story mode such as the interface issues when using Internet on the cell phone after completing the game or during a mission replay, the Vanilla Unicorn occasionally becoming locked, a fix for issues where the character’s money could drop below zero and become stuck, the Epsilon Program missions not progressing properly after delivering some cars, the Atomic Blimp sometimes not appearing as a phone contact, vehicles going missing or losing their upgrades, and several map escape and collision issues along with other various bugs. Also, the online mode is activated, but most players will just see a “failure to host session” after setting up their online persona and trying to get a game going, only to be kicked back to story mode afterwards.
The support team in charge of the technical issues can be reached at Rockstar’s support page and twitter, so rest assured: they’re working on it. Hopefully, we’ll all be able to enjoy GTA Online soon without any hiccups.
